Here is what the Army wrote about my brother receiving the medal...

'Specialist Christopher W Hutchison, United States Army, distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous achievement as a Medic for a Joint Task Force in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM on 14 November 2008. During this period, Specialist Hutchison remained exposed to heavy small arms and automatic weapons fire in order to ensure timely and effective care and evacuation of an injured casualty. With total disregard for his personal safety, Specialist Hutchison’s actions ultimately resulted in the survival of the casualty who would have otherwise died of his wounds and exposure to the elements. The distinctive accomplishments of Specialist Hutchison reflect great credit upon him, the United States Army, and the Department of Defense.'
